Hi, I'm Ola and I'm a counsellor passionate about accompanying my clients on their journey upstream, towards acceptance and change.
Swimming upstream is not easy and however strong the current might be, I'm here to offer to hold your difficulties in a safe and contained space.
I have worked with young people and their families from different backgrounds for over 15 years. Offering tailored support has always been at the forefront of my approach. I will adjust to your personality and needs, so we can find the best course of counselling for you.
I am open to work with a variety of issues, such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma, loss, grief, anger, across-culture relationships, feeling of being different .
I have a particular interest in working with young people and their families. I am experienced in working with neurodiverse clients and have a personal experience of being a mum to a neurodivergent teenager. I understand the challenges that places on the individual and the closest to them.
Counselling is a very unique experience where a trained therapist is present with the client to explore the meanders of their life. The counsellor helps the client to find their flow again by carefully listening to their struggles and guiding them through the rough waters. Sometimes we might feel like on a deserted island, confused and with no one around for support or flooded under challenges of personal or family life. Counselling offers a non judgemental and confidential space where those and other feelings can be explored.
Teaching is about building a strong relationship as a foundation for the learning process.
All young people deserve to be listed to and offered a high level of empathy.
Therapeutic teaching uses some of the counselling skills, such as attentive listening, empathic understanding and understanding young people's triggers to create a therapeutic learning environment. Therapeutic teaching sessions are not counselling sessions.
I am a counsellor passionate about understanding the origins of my clients difficulties, hence the journey upstream to find the source. I use a person-centred approach, incorporating creative ways of working together. I offer my clients environment of no judgement, calmness and acceptance.
